For some, getting pregnant appears to be almost as easy as breathing. They decide they are ready to conceive, they spend one passionate evening with their partner, and nine months later they are holding their healthy bundle of joy. You look at them and wonder why it hasn’t happened for you.
Becoming pregnant isn’t always that easy. It can be very discouraging when the fertility process is more of a rollercoaster of emotional ups and downs than an arrow shooting straight. But please know you aren’t alone. According to studies, 1 in 8 couples has trouble getting pregnant or sustaining a pregnancy.[1]
At this part in the story of your life, you may be looking at your options to help you realise your dream of having a baby. Your first thought may be IVF (in vitro fertilization). Nowadays it often seems like the only option and indeed for many couples, it has been the answer to all their prayers, giving them the precious baby they so desire.
However, IVF is not appropriate for everyone.
The success rate of IVF depends on many factors including lifestyle, the age of the woman undergoing treatment, as well as the cause of infertility (if known).
IVF is not usually recommended for women over the age of 42 as the chances of success are much lower. For the years 2014-2016, in the UK, the percentage of IVF treatments that resulted in a live birth was:
(These figures are for women using their own eggs and their partner’s sperm, using the per embryo transferred measure.)[2]
So where does that leave women who are struggling to have a baby where IVF isn’t recommended? Or women who don’t want to do IVF? Or women who just would prefer a more natural alternative?
Many women I see are eager to find a more natural option for getting pregnant. They may be struggling with infertility problems or unexplained fertility. They may have already unsuccessfully attempted IVF. They may fear the clinical nature of IVF, the intervention, the drugs and prescriptions, the invasiveness, and only wish to do it as a last resort if all else fails. There are also women who don’t meet their partners until later in life and want to start a family but don’t qualify for IVF because of their age. Alternatively, financial circumstances may just make IVF an impossible choice and they want to find a more affordable cost-effective natural alternative.
This is where I can help.
While IVF focuses on the hyper-stimulation of your reproductive system, homeopathy works on restoring balance to all aspects of your health. This includes your physical, emotional and mental well-being as well as your hormonal system. In addition to helping with problems such as menstrual irregularities, enhancing your ovulation and boosting your whole reproductive system, it strengthens your immune system and improves your overall health – all of which are important for sustaining a healthy pregnancy and having a healthy baby.
Homeopathy is less intrusive and traumatic on your body. The process of IVF can feel very clinical for many couples and it has a limited focus on a healthy lifestyle. The procedure does nothing to ensure the ongoing health of either parent. IVF is very medical and takes the joy out of conceiving, often placing a strain on the relationship.
Homeopathy aims to treat the root cause of the problem and every treatment plan is designed specifically for your needs. Whereas IVF which was originally used to help women with blocked fallopian tubes is nowadays used for a wide range of fertility issues including unexplained infertility.
Homeopathy helps reduce the stress in your life and your body. Staying positive is an important part of your fertility journey as stress can negatively impact your health. Some of the stresses created by infertility include the medical practicalities; strained relationships; disappointment; seeing others become pregnant; unresolved grief; fear and anxiety; and resentment. (You can read more about this and how to overcome it, in my Free EBook: How To Relieve Stress and Rapidly Boost Your Fertility Naturally). In homeopathy we look at how you respond to stress in your life and prescribe remedies to help reduce the disruption that stress hormones can cause to your body, your hormones, and your health.
Homeopathy is a powerful system of medicine that embraces a holistic approach to restoring your health, balancing your hormones and boosting your fertility.
There is no such thing as “one size fits all” in homeopathy. In my 3-6 month Boost Your Fertility Programme we work on your specific needs. I am continuously assessing how you are doing and ensuring the remedies I have prescribed are achieving the best results for your body and your health.
