Parenting. It’s a beautiful journey dotted with bumps along the way. Moments when your heart swells with love and pride, intertwined with times you’re tip-toeing around your child, afraid the slightest misstep might trigger a meltdown or an emotional outburst of rage and anger.
Sound familiar?
Meet Mairead, who knows this all too well. She’s among the many parents I’ve worked with, who understand the contrast of having an adorable child, who on the flip side can exhibit behavior that seems like a volcano about to blow. For Mairead, this became her norm, leaving her feeling deeply unsettled and questioning her parenting skills – something many parents might relate to in similar challenging situations.
Shy, anxious and angry emotions all wrapped into one
Her son, a cute 5-year-old, was extremely shy and anxious but also, prone to sudden bursts of anger. Despite loving school and having lots of friends, he struggled with group activities and joining peers in fun. He’d often freeze, clinging to his mum, seeking reassurance that everything would be okay.
At home, while funny and incredibly kind to others when he got angry this changed to shouting, screaming, and stomping and he’d have the family on edge. Mairead described it “like a volcano erupting,” with everyone walking on eggshells. Winning was crucial to him; so much so that even his younger brother would let him win to keep peace. This passionate boy held the household to ransom!
Chaos to Calm
Below Mairead generously shares her honest journey toward homeopathy. She talks about how they went from chaos to a young boy who is now calm, confident, and able to express his needs without drama.
