Is your home full of heightened emotions at Christmas?
Perhaps you’re a stressed-out mum feeling on the verge of collapse from the pressure of creating the perfect day. Or maybe you’re managing a child who falls sick due to over-excitement, becoming clingy and challenging to handle. Then there’s the stress of hosting a house full of relatives or having to put on a brave face when you are feeling lonely and sad.
Well the good news is that many of these emotions can quickly be calmed with Homeopathy, helping you relax and get back into the swing of the festive season.
If your child (or even you!) is so excited from the anticipation of Santa’s arrival that they can’t sleep, or they sleep so lightly awakening at every sound, consider the homeopathic remedy Coffea.
We can all feel the pressure of frantically running around at Christmas. But if the hustle and bustle leaves you feeling stressed, drained and overwhelmed consider the homeopathic remedy Sepia.
In this state, you can feel quite low and all you really want to do is run away from it all or just be on your own. With extreme exhaustion, you feel irritable, snappy and quite tearful. At worst you may feel numb and indifferent to your loved ones, particularly your children. Physically you may suffer with your periods and your body generally feels heavy and sluggish. It can be a great remedy to restore balance physically and emotionally.
Whether it’s from overeating or drinking too much alcohol over the festive period, the homeopathic remedy Nux Vomica is a lifesaver if you are guilty of overindulging. The person will complain of headaches, indigestion, nausea and constipation.
Sleep will be difficult and they often wake at 3am with great trouble getting back to sleep. When they do nod off again, it will be just before they are due to start the day and their mood is irritable and grumpy.
When in good health your child is gentle, mild and affectionate but when unwell they are whingy, clingy and joined at the hip with mum! If this sounds familiar consider the homeopathic remedy Pulsatilla.
With a flurry of activity, stimulus and excitement going on, your child may pick up a cough or cold. It will be accompanied by the characteristic thick, yellow green discharge, and they will appear worse in a warm room and much better in the fresh air.
They love being consoled and cuddled and younger infants will just want to be carried around.
It is also a useful remedy for nausea and vomiting as a result of too much rich food.
If your child is unhappy that Santa didn’t bring the presents they wanted, or someone is missing an absent parent, consider the homeopathic remedy Ignatia for support. This is a remedy often used to help cope with grief and disappointment.
The person may appear devastated by some minor incident and the reaction is usually quite dramatic with highs and lows in short bursts. One minute they are laughing and the next they are crying. They will sigh deeply often unaware of it and they are generally very sensitive to any reprimands.
These are just a few homeopathic remedies that can be used to help you through the festive season but of course, their use is not limited to this time of year.
Do you have any experiences of using Homeopathy successfully over the Christmas period? I’d love to share your story to inspire others.
